Visit Turkey for the Aspendos Opera & Ballet Festival. Every year, operas and ballets are performed in the 15,000 capacity ancient Aspendos Theatre near Antalya, Turkey. Close to the Mediterranean Sea, the Roman amphitheatre resounds to classical tunes at performances in late August and September attracting thousands of spectators. Organised by the Turkish Culture Ministry’s State Opera and Ballet Directorate, this year’s programme has yet to be announced but previous years’ performances include Puccini’s Turandot and Tchaikovsky’s ballet, Swan Lake. Another opera, performed one September, was Puccini’s Madam Butterfly. The festival always includes an overseas performer, whether it be an orchestra or an opera/ballet company. Previous attendees include the Ekaterinburg Academic Opera & Ballet Company and the Beijing Opera company.
Following the success of the previous festivals we will be offering packages to this year’s event. The standard package will include a 7 night stay, on a bed & breakfast basis, at a charming family run hotel in historic town of Side, Turkey and tickets to 2 performances at the festival.
